Lexus RX350 XE
Now sporting far more macho looks, courtesy of a less pointy nose and more purposeful stance on big 19-inch wheels, Lexus’s new RX looks set to cause waves in the luxury SUV segment. Inside, Lexus has done its usual excellent work, with the RX boasting a spacious, high-tech cabin made of the finest quality materials. There’s one big change, however, for the first time a “haptic” controller replaces Lexus’ usual touch-screen control system. But no worries, it works superbly. Buyers will have to make up their own minds about the boot, however… Lexus has wisely fitted a full-size spare-wheel, but this hampers boot space. Power comes from a punch 3,5-litre V6 engine that delivers 204 kW and 284 N.m of torque. The engine is mated with an all-new six-speed automatic transmission, and power goes to all four wheels via Lexus’ Active Torque Control AWD system that automatically transfers power to the rear wheels when slip is detected.
